SOUTHERN COUNTIES VETERANS ATHLETIC CLUB

CONSTITUTION

 

TITLE

The name of the club shall be Southern Counties Veterans Athletic Club.

 

OBJECTS

The objects of the club shall be to encourage, promote and regulate the sport for master athletes.

 

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to athletes of 35 years and over, who are amateurs as defined by UK Athletics and whose application is approved by the committee.

Life members, previously proposed and accepted by the committee, may be elected at the Annual General Meeting if supported by a majority vote.

There shall be a maximum of 10 life members at any one time.

 

SUBSCRIPTION

Each member shall pay an annual subscription to the treasurer of the club at the beginning of the subscription year, which is January 1st. The beginning of the financial year is April 1st.

 

MANAGEMENT

The management of the club shall be vested in a committee consisting of the following.

Chairperson

Vice-chairperson

Secretary

Membership Secretary

New Members Secretary

Treasurer

Track and Field Secretary

Road Running Secretary

Cross Country Secretary

Other Officers who are not members of the committee may  be appointed by the committee.

The committee shall have the power to co-opt additional members to the committee.

 All these officers shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting.

 

COMMITTEE MEETINGS

The committee shall meet at least twice a year, at least once face to face, five members to form a quorum.

 

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The club shall hold an Annual General Meeting, at which all paid up members

are eligible to attend and have the right to vote, after the end of the financial year.

All matters for the agenda to be dealt with shall be forwarded to the Secretary not less than 28 days before the meeting.

The Secretary shall give 14 days notice to all paid up members and and a copy of the agenda by means of the SCVAC Website.

An Extraordinary AGM may be called by the Secretary at the discretion of the committee or on a request by at least 10 members, such a meeting to be held within 28 days of the request.

 

CHAMPIONSHIPS

The club shall promote annual championships at track and field, road running and cross country, where awards will be made to each of the age groups.

Only paid up members shall be allowed to compete in championship events,

but the committee shall have the power to allow guests to participate.

 

AFFILIATION

The club shall affiliate to the BMAF or its successor and to England Athletics.

 

OTHER MATTERS

The committee shall have the power to deal with any other matters not covered by these rules provided that there is no conflict with UK Athletics rules. 

 

 AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION

Amendments to the constitution can be made only at the AGM.

Details of the amendment shall be sent to the Secretary at least 14 days before the AGM and passed by a two thirds majority vote of the members voting at the AGM.
