London Marathon SCVAC entry 2 October 2022
We have received this report on the London Marathon
from Susan Payne, who won the SCVAC place in the ballot to run the marathon.
"It was a great outing and reminded me of why I race
the half marathon (and 10 km) for the England team! Marathons are hard work
after mile 20!
I completed in 3:42:09, 7th British female in my 60 –
64 age group and in the top 10% of female runners all ages participating
(just under 17,000 women of the total 42,000 runners). I attach a photo soon
after I finished, above."
Congratulations on a fine run Susan! You did us proud
on Sunday.

Ted Pepper Memorial 10k – SCVAC
Multi-Terrain 10k Championship
Blackheath and Bromley once again
welcomed us to this friendly event. The weather was unexpectedly sunny and
warm, and the baked dry ground posed additional challenges this year,
especially where the course was rutted or had exposed tree roots to avoid.
The overall entries were well down
on normal, due to the London Vitality 10k, which attracted many volunteer
marshals and runners from the ranks of our usual participants.
SCVAC entries were also down, with
only 8 men and a single woman toeing the start line on the Norman Park
Athletic Track. All our members managed to negotiate the course without
mishap, and with Nice Work providing chip times promptly, we held our medal
presentation soon after the finish. SCVAC Results are shown below. Darren
Corneille was our first runner home, with Carol Marsh narrowly outscoring
Tony Lintern for top age graded performance. The AG scores are intrinsically
better than they appear, as they assume a road 10k and not a multi-terrain
course.
